Did your financial advisor sell you any of the below-listed high yield bond funds as a “conservative” or “moderate” risk investment? If so, you may have a claim for damages. Contact Sonn Law Group for a free review.
Bonds that are rated below investment grade (that is, BB or lower by Standard & Poor’s, and BA or lower by Moody’s) are sometimes called “junk” bonds. In normal circumstances, when market interest rate levels rise, existing bonds’ market values usually drop. High-yield bonds are risky compared to other bonds, so they compensate investors for the additional returns.
Unlike bonds, bond funds have no maturity date by which all principal must be paid, and bond funds pay the manager fees every year you hold the fund. Therefore, bond funds are not for risk-averse investors.
