Sonn Law Group is investigating potential claims and recovery options on behalf of BitMart customers who have lost or are unable to access $500,000 or more in cryptocurrency, cash, or other assets.
Our investigation includes the circumstances surrounding BitMart’s withdrawal restrictions and potential restructuring, the corporate entities involved in BitMart’s operations, the custody and location of customer assets, BitMart’s U.S. connections, and potential avenues for recovering customer funds.
What Is Happening at BitMart
BitMart announced an orderly wind-down of its trading platform on July 26, 2026, halted all spot, futures, and other trading services on August 26, 2026, and has said it plans to formally cease platform operations on January 31, 2027.
On August 21, 2026, BitMart announced it was developing a potential restructuring plan as an alternative to a full wind-down – one that “may include the phased resumption of certain operations in an orderly manner alongside distributions to creditors” – and appointed the international law firm White & Case as restructuring counsel. BitMart said it would provide a further update, including a roadmap, no later than September 9, 2026.
The reference to distributions to creditors is significant. In restructuring practice, that language describes a claims process, not ordinary customer withdrawals. As of this writing, BitMart has not publicly disclosed a reserve figure, a claims register, a liability total, a recovery percentage, or a timetable for resolving pending withdrawal requests, and has not stated whether it intends to pursue a formal insolvency proceeding.
Meanwhile, customers continue to report rejected, frozen, or indefinitely pending withdrawals, and balances that remain visible on-screen but cannot be moved.
