Eric Scott Johnson’s FINRA complaint disclosure describes a pending estate dispute involving allegedly unauthorized beneficiary changes. His BrokerCheck report, CRD No. 5545450, lists $1,648,579.20 in alleged damages and identifies Fidelity Brokerage Services LLC as the employing firm associated with the disputed activity. (FINRA)

What Does the Estate Allege?

The estate alleges that beneficiaries were changed without permission. BrokerCheck identifies FINRA Case No. 26-00810, reports service of notice or process on April 13, 2026, and lists the arbitration as pending.

Johnson denies the allegation. His disclosed response states that the account holder personally completed and signed beneficiary-designation documents naming multiple family members. The pending claim does not establish wrongdoing. (FINRA)

What Should Families Preserve in a Beneficiary Dispute?

For a similar concern, we recommend assembling a document package before seeking legal advice:

  • Original and revised beneficiary designations.
  • Signature pages and electronic authorization records.
  • Communications discussing the account owner’s wishes.
  • Account statements and distribution records.
  • Relevant estate, trust, and ownership documents.
  • A chronology identifying when the disputed change was discovered.

Ask counsel to compare the documents supporting the change with the account owner’s recorded instructions. Identify any gaps without assuming that a disputed outcome proves an unauthorized act.

Consider asking:

  • Who requested and submitted the change?
  • What evidence supports the account owner’s authorization?
  • Which account procedures applied?
  • Have assets already been distributed?
  • Who has authority to pursue the estate’s concerns?

These are suggested review questions, not additional allegations about Johnson or Fidelity.
