Andrew Grant (CRD#: 2709882) accepted sanctions and consented to the entry of findings that, while associated with a member firm, he affected trades in customers’ accounts using discretion without the customers’ prior written authorization and without the firm accepting these accounts as discretionary in writing.
According to the FINRA findings, between January 1, 2018, and April 30, 2019, Grant exercised discretionary trading authority to effect 634 transactions in 13 customers’ accounts. None of the customers gave written authorization for Grant to exercise discretion in their accounts.
Grant was suspended for 15 days, beginning on February 18, 2020, and fined $5,000.
In November 2019, FINRA opened an investigation into Grant and recommended that disciplinary action be brought against him. Also in 2019, Grant was the subject of a customer dispute. The customer alleged unsuitability, excessive trading, and negligence. The customer is requesting $650,000. The matter is still pending.
Prior to his employment with Laidlaw & Company, Grant was registered with Obsidian Financial Group, Empire Financial Group, Ehrenkrantz King Nussbaum, Inc., Tasin & Company, Inc., IAR Securities Corp., and Investors Associates Inc., all of which have been expelled by FINRA since then.
