Christopher Neil Watkins, Formerly of LPL Financial, Terminated for Allegedly Sharing Advisory Fees with Unregistered Party

Subsequent to his termination by LPL Financial, Christopher Neil Watkins received a customer complaint for “unsuitable investments.”

Christopher Neil Watkins (CRD#: 4456445)was employed by LPL Financial, LLC from 2011 through 2018 when he was terminated based on allegations that he facilitated the distribution of advisory fees to an unregistered person. Despite the allegations, Watkins denied that he ever shared fees saying, “[a]ny advisory fee monies payable to or received by me ended up in the firm’s bank account and were used for firm expenses, including payroll and other overhead.”

In August 2019, a customer complaint was filed against Watkins for recommending unsuitable investments seeking $115,000. The dispute is still pending. Since his termination, Watkins has been employed by Silver Oak Securities in Louisville, Kentucky.

Prior to being a broker for LPL Financial, he was employed the following: PNC Capital Markets in Louisville, Kentucky from November 2009 to March 2011; Natcity Investments, Inc. in Louisville Kentucky from November 2004 to November 2009; and Edward Jones in St. Louis, Missouri from November 2001 to October 2004.
